BIG Project - Top 10 / Portfolio

I think that I did OK overall during this project!  I hope everybody likes them :)

***The model for all of these images is my cat Leo! I thought his colors and personality somewhat resembled a Tiger like the ones in Steve's pictures :)

Had a pretty good week this week, and since its the last before my final decision I decided to go all out.  Instead of 3 favorites, I took double the photos and uploaded 6!  I really focused on trying to get a bit more emotion into these, and as you can see I did a little.  #3 is supposed to be kind of shocked, while #1 is has a bit of a depressed vibe.  I even managed to get a little anger in #2.  Overall, this project was pretty fun and I really enjoyed the freedom.  I also have gained a new respect for any photographer who takes pictures of ANYTHING moving.

I think I might have taken my money shot!  The contrast in color in #3 made me extremely pleased with the image.  But what do you guys think? My new tactic has been working great, and as a result I don't have as many cat scratches as last week.  I also decided to change the format of #2.  I though it cam out OK but I think I'm just gonna stick with the regular format.  Feeling good about this project right now -

Yay! Leo stayed a bit stiller this week and I'm pretty happy with my images.  I really loved the contrasting colors in some of these but my composition is still somewhat boring.  I think last week I invaded his space too much so he tried moving away from me.  So my new tactic will to be to stay out of his way and capture his natural motions.

Well, I guess my cat really didn't want to cooperate this week.  Steve Winter would NOT be proud.  The only really good image I was able to get was #3.  Kind of disappointing.  However I'm really starting to appreciate the freedom we are given with this project :)!  Hopefully next week Leo will make a little more effort to hold still...

Jeez! This is much harder than I first thought.  I never realized how hard it must be to capture animal images, and Steve Winter makes it look way too easy.  My cat can barley stand still especially with the flash. But overall these were my 3 favorites.  I like the colors that I'm picking up but to be honest, I cant seem to get the composition down.  The problem is, whenever I try focusing on the composition while I snap a photo it comes out horrible.  So I guess I'll just pray that I get lucky in that area!

I'm very excited to be using flash though!  In many of Steve's pictures he uses flash when there isn't enough light, and it comes out amazing.  I love that look so I'm going to be doing that as a pattern throughout this project.

****I used your trick by the way Mrs.Underwood! I took some plain copy paper and made a tube shape to soften the flash.  Works like a charm

After Natural Light

After searching for the best possible natural light photos, I was both happy and slightly disappointed.  I love the different facial expressions of  However, one image of my friend Haley came out slightly sepia from some strange reason, and that's basically the only thing that really went wrong.  This also happened in some of the photos for my friend Olivia.  Next time I will definitely have to research this issue.  Anyways, it was very fun to involve my friends in my passion for photography, and I even let them take a few of their own!  For me, this was one of the most fun projects so far.

Here are the photos that I took
